Primordials

These mysterious beings have communed with humanity, and not just Humanity, for eons – they are the spirits of the land itself. The Primordials are at once elemental, geomantic, and – somehow – biological. Each Primordial is vastly powerful within the scope of it’s own domain – each holds sway within a given area and only that area. The wisdom of these beings has been followed for millenia – the teachings of druidism are based upon the powers of these creatures. The Primordials are cycles, balance, the flow of life, death, creation, and destruction as it occurs in nature between both the land, the elements it contains, and the creatures living on that land. Primordials are complex beings and difficult to understand.

Primordials vary in power and scope – one, for instance, might be a Primordial of That Pond Outside of Town. In this case, the Primordial in question would be considered an extremely weak being but, within the scope of it’s domain (that particular pond) it would have nearly unlimited power. Another might be The Primordial of Sothmire Forest – a much larger area of land and, within the scope of that place, the primordial in question would be like a god. This is not to say that a Primordial can alter reality or anything as vulgar as that within the scope of their domain – their powers work by manipulating the different parts of the cycles which take place within the scope of their domain. Speaking through plants or animals, altering the layout of a forest, changing the course of a river without warning – all of these are possible for a Primordial. Few exercise such overt control, however – most sleep their existences away unless disturbed by abuse of their domain or awakening by a Druid.
